Justin Durant to sign with Dallas Cowboys?
Reports surfaced on Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a contract with linebacker Justin Durant. The former Detroit Lion essentially confirmed as much on Twitter.
The only problem: The Cowboys didn't have the salary cap room to officially make the move. That will change Wednesday.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the team will sign Durant and former Miami Dolphins safety Will Allen after restruring the contract of a Cowboys veteran on Wednesday. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys will also release one player. That will free up room to sign Durant and Allen. Free agent safety Michael Huff apparently will not be an option for Dallas. Fullback Lawrence Vickers is a candidate to released.
There were open questions on Tuesday whether the Cowboys should really be allowed to "agree" to contracts when they don't have enough salary cap space to sign anyone. Apparently, they will get ride of the problem Wednesday by making moves.
