Brent Grimes reportedly could soon land with Dolphins
Looking for the best potential bargain left on the free-agent pile?
We still say it's running back Ahmad Bradshaw. But we can just as easily get talked into Brent Grimes, the cornerback currently recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.
Grimes was ready to cash in big as a free agent before disaster struck in the Atlanta Falcons' season opener last September. Several teams have expressed interest, but Grimes has remained unattached.
That could be about to change. According to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora, the Miami Dolphins are "very much in" on Grimes, "who could land there soon."
Grimes has been linked to the Dolphins since he visited Miami in the first week of free agency. He reportedly has a multiyear deal on the table from the Cleveland Browns and had been positioned as a Darrelle Revis-related Plan B for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though he's reportedly no longer in the mix there.
Grimes, 30, would be a solid replacement in Miami for Sean Smith, who left for the Kansas City Chiefs via free agency. The question is how much general manager Jeff Ireland is willing to commit to a player who's far from 100 percent.
