Volvo China Open: Brett Rumford closes out back-to-back European Tour wins
Brett Rumford became only the third Australian to win back-to-back tournaments in the 41-year history of the European Tour after romping to a four-shot triumph at the Volvo China Open.
The 35-year-old Western Australian followed up his success at the Ballantine's Championship in Korea a week earlier by closing out a comfortable win on the final day in Tianjin.
Rumford, leading Mikko Ilonen by one shot heading into the final round, carded a closing 68 to increase his lead.
Finn Ilonen never got close to the Australian, but finished in second place, one stroke ahead of Frenchman Victor Dubuisson, with Holland's Robert-Jan Derksen a shot further adrift.
