Sidney Crosby starred as Pittsburgh Penguins doubled Eastern Conference semi-final lead over Ottawa Senators
Sidney Crosby hit a hat-trick as the Pittsburgh Penguins took control of their NHL Eastern Conference semi-final against the Ottawa Senators with a 4-3 victory at Consol Energy Center in game two on Friday night.
Crosby's second career play-off treble saw the hosts go 3-1 up 1:15 into the second period.
Brendan Morrow's first goal for the franchise soon re-establishing their two-goal cushion after Colin Greening had pulled one back.
Kyle Turris and Jean-Gabriel Pageau were also on target for the Senators but it was not enough to prevent the top-seeded Penguins - for whom Tomas Vokoun made 19 saves - forging 2-0 ahead in the best-of-seven series ahead of game three in Ottawa on Sunday.
