Carlo Ancelotti has requested to leave PSG to join Real Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has asked to leave the club in order to join Real Madrid, according to sporting director Leonardo.
Ancelotti had a meeting to discuss his future with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo on Sunday.
Leonardo told L'Equipe that Ancelotti requested to leave the club in that meeting but no decision had been made over the Italian's future.
"Carlo asked to leave for Madrid, but we want him to stay," Leonardo told the French newspaper. "There was no firm decision, we listened to Carlo. We have to consider everything for a bit."
The former Brazilian midfielder added: "The priority is still that he remains with us. We have never contacted other managers."
Earlier this week, Al-Khelaifi said he rebuffed an approach from Madrid's sporting director for Ancelotti.
Ancelotti steered PSG to its first French league title since 1994 last week while Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is expected to leave at the end of the season.
