Chelsea captain John Terry fears he will miss Europa League final
Chelsea captain John Terry admits he is unsure if he will be fit for Wednesday's Europa League final against Benfica.
Terry was stretchered off during Chelsea's win at Aston Villa on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury in a collision with Villa defender Nathan Baker.
The former England skipper left Villa Park on crutches and wearing a protective boot, and he is in real danger of missing his second European final in 12 months after being sidelined for last season's UEFA Champions League final because of suspension.
Terry is sweating on a scan on his injured ankle to see if he will be fit for the final in Amsterdam.
"It is my ankle. I'm going to get it scanned. I don't know if I'll be fit for Wednesday at the moment," Terry told the Daily Mirror.
Frank Lampard admitted it would be a huge blow to lose Terry and that he felt for the defender after missing out on last season's Champions League success in Munich.
"It's a huge blow," noted Lampard. "I am gutted for him because I know how difficult that was for him, missing the game last year.
"But whatever we do as a club, John is part of it. We win things together."
