Adrian Peterson says that patience is his key as he explained his running tactics that saw him finish as the NFL's MVP last season even after coming back from knee surgery.

The Minnesota Vikings took it easy with their superstar rusher at the start of the 2012 season as he was coming back from serious knee surgery - and many feared he would not be the same dynamic back he was before the injury.

However, Peterson came flying back to have an amazing season, and despite opposing teams planning specifically for him as Minnesota's only real offensive weapon, he led the team to the play-offs.
With limited carries at the start of the season, Peterson still managed to rush for 2,097 - an agonising nine yards short of Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record.

Fans in the UK will be able to see Peterson in action this autumn when the Vikings face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley Stadium on September 29.

Ahead of this appearance, Sky Sports has been showing a special 'Inside the Vikings' show every week, and this week the man himself talked about how he manages to make all those hard yards in the NFL.

Peterson has the speed, the strength and the toughness to battle NFL defences week in and week out, but he says the biggest key to success is patience.

"That's one thing my coach always talks about," Peterson told Inside the Vikings. "Slow to the hole - and fast through.

"In the run game you wait to give the offensive line time to develop the play and that play to develop and you're able to put those guys onto the linebackers.

"It's something that I've been trying to focus on, being patient and waiting for that hole to open up in front of me - then turn the jets on and burn through."

Along with player interviews, Inside the Vikings, and another show Inside the Jaguars, go behind the scenes at the two NFL teams to be playing in the UK this year as well as showing archive footage of games gone by.
