Justin Rose and Bill Haas share the halfway lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.

But Tiger Woods' hopes of an eighth win at Bay Hill took a late knock after he closed with a hat-trick of bogeys.

Woods had closed to within a shot of Rose and Haas after moving to eight-under with an eagle at six and birdies at the first, 11th and 13th.
But he bogeyed the easy par five 16th after finding water with his second, made a four at the par three 17th after a double-cross from the tee and added another at 18 after driving into the wet rough.

It left Woods four strokes behind Rose and Haas, who are tied at the top on nine-under.

Haas, playing in the morning session, carded a superb 66 which featured an eagle at 16 while Rose, who led the field by one after the opening day, was round in 70.

Rose looked set to hold the halfway lead on his own after moving to double digits under par with a simple two-putt birdie on 16 but, with the rain pouring down on the final hole, he clumsily three-putted from 25 feet to drop back into a tie with Haas.

John Huh sits alone in third after a 69 while a further trio of Americans - Ken Duke, JJ Henry and Jimmy Walker - are another two shots back on six-under.

It's a further shot back to Woods, who has work to do to get the win here that would return him to world number one.

The halfway casualties included Phil Mickelson, who missed the cut after a seven-over 79 which included a four-putt from five feet at 13.

It was just the 19th time in 1,640 career rounds on the PGA tour that Mickelson had posted a 79 or higher.

Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell flirted with the cut but made it through on two-over although they'll go into the weekend a full 11 shots behind the joint-leaders.
