Wolves extend lead

Wolverhampton Wolves outstanding start to the season as they claimed a comfortable 53-39 win over fellow title contenders King's Lynn Stars at Monmore Green.

A patched up stars side had to use three guests and the rider replacement facility, but they still managed to put up a very good effort and after 12 heats were within four points of Wolves before the home side pulled away.
Freddie Lindgren (13+1) and Tai Woffinden (12+1) led the side home to the win which means they are now four points clear of the Stars at the top of the table.

"It was a good result for the team," said Lindgren.

"Heat 13 from me and Tai against Iversen was a really good result. Adam (Skornicki) finished the job in Heat 14, and we are really happy to take all three points."

Coventry Bees moved off the bottom of the table after they claimed their first win of the season with a 57-33 win over Lakeside Hammers at Brandon.

A much improved Bees display saw Aussie Aaron Summers lead them home from reserve with paid 16, whilst Scott Nicholls and Gregorz Zengota also hit double figures.

Peter Karlsson top-scored with 11 for Lakeside, who never really looked like getting anything from the match.

Captain Scott Nicholls said: "It's well overdue, and hopefully it's the turning point. We've got a couple more meetings this week.

"It was great to get the reception from the crowd, and full credit to Mick (Horton). He got the boys together today and it was nice to get the support from him, to reassure us that he was behind us. He put the free event on earlier for a bit of fun for the kids, so full credit to him and hopefully that's got the fans behind us again."
