Celtic's Georgios Samaras in the dark as Neil Lennon emerges as new favourite for Everton job
Speculation linking Neil Lennon with the Everton job was inevitable, according to Georgios Samaras.
A rush of money on Celtic boss Lennon has seen him cut from 12/1 to odds-on favourite with Sky Bet to replace David Moyes at Goodison Park.
And Hoops striker Samaras believes successive SPL titles and a run to the last 16 in this season's Champions League were always likely to attract interest in the manager.
He said: "I haven't heard anything but all I can say is that when you are playing at a high level like the Champions League and doing well then for sure people will come and watch the players or the manager or whoever is part of the team.
"That is normal. When you are doing well, people will come and watch you. But I don't know what he is thinking or what he wants to do."
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has promised to listen to supporters before appointing Moyes' successor.
He said: "Everton supporters are no fools. I will be looking to those supporters, not to get individual names, to get the guidance that true football fans can give to its chairman and its football club.
"You can't individually poll each of them, but it is important that they get the right man."
Roberto Martinez was the bookmakers' early favourite, but the Wigan manager says he will not listen to any approaches until the season ends.
