Pittsburgh Penguins secure series victory over New York Islanders
Brooks Orpik scored an overtime winner to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders and book their place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
Orpik's goal 7:49 into OT was reward for a gritty performance from the Penguins who three times came from behind to seal a win which gave them a 4-2 victory in the best-of-seven series.
The Islanders led the match three times courtesy of goals from John Tavares, Colin McDonald and Michael Grabner, but each time they were unable to hold on.
Pittsburgh hit back through Jarome Iginla, Pascal Dupuis and Paul Martin to ensure overtime was required to decide the outcome of the contest.
The top-seeded Penguins will now face the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
