Justin Maxwell and Rick Ankiel led the Houston offence as the Astros recorded an 8-2 win over the Texas Rangers in the opening game of the new MLB season.

Maxwell had two runs and two RBIs on two hits, both triples, while Ankiel homered and drove in three, to back up 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball from Bud Norris. Erik Bedard tossed 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the save.

Nelson Cruz was two-for-three with an RBI for the Rangers, while Lance Berkman had two hits and a run
