AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is playing for his club future on Sunday when his side host Torino needing to win to remain third in the table and in a position to play in the Champions League next season.

With rumours about his future spreading, Milan's general director Barbara Berlusconi has given the clearest indication yet that Allegri's term as Rossoneri coach is coming to an end.

Should they not qualify for the Champions League the season would go down as a disappointment, and that could mean the coach will pay the price.

"At the start of the season, nobody would have bet on us (qualifying for the Champions League), but now if we don't finish third it would leave a bitter taste," Berlusconi told Milan Channel.

"Europe is the natural stage for our club. It is not my role (to decide the coach's future) but we are all fighting for a crucial objective which is the Champions League, the coach included."

Opponents Torino are not going to make things easy for them, however.

After surviving for over 85 minutes against champions-elect Juventus a week ago before succumbing to two late goals, they want to show greater resolve at the San Siro to pick up points they still need to be sure of avoiding the drop.

Only four points separate the Granata from the bottom three with four games of the season remaining.

"We have three important games in the space of a week and we have got to get the best we can out of them," said coach Giampiero Ventura.

"Our battle for safety will be decided in these four games. We just need to win one of them, it doesn't matter which."

After the trip to Milan, Torino, who have lost their last three matches, host fellow strugglers Genoa and travel to Chievo before ending the season at home to Catania.
