WTA Championships to be held in Singapore from 2014 as Mexico and China miss out
Singapore has won the right to host the season-ending WTA Championships for the five years beginning in 2014.
The south-east Asian city state beat off competition from Tianjin in China and the Mexican city of Monterrey.
Next year's Championships, Singapore's first, will have a record £4.2m-worth of prize money on offer.
Stacey Allaster, chairwoman and CEO of the WTA, said: "This is the largest and most significant WTA Championships partnership in our history. It's a record breaker."
This year's event, scheduled for October, marks the end of Turkey's three-year reign as host.
