The Detroit Red Wings are through to the Western Conference semi-final after they won the deciding rubber against the Anaheim Ducks 3-2.

Henrik Zetterberg opened the scoring just 1:49 into the game and, after Emerson Etem levelled, Justin Abdelkader's shorthanded goal re-established Detroit's lead.

Filppula added an insurance goal 13:45 into the second period and it proved crucial as Francois Beauchemin pulled one back with 3:17 left on the clock.

Detorit held on, though, to set-up a showdown with the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks.

Third-period goals from Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel gave the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins, setting up a series decider.

Captain Phaneuf netted 1:48 into the third and Kessel doubled the lead midway through the period, with Milan Lucic pulling one back 26 seconds from the end.

Derick Brassard scored the only goal at 9:39 in the second period as the New York Rangers won game six against the Washington Capitals to stay alive in the series.

Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves for the shutout.
