Tyler Kennedy nets overtime winner for the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 2-1 overtime triumph against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Tyler Kennedy scored 2:33 into overtime to complete the comeback win for Pittsburgh, who had trailed to Claude Giroux's strike until Sidney Crosby equalised with 6:14 left in regulation. Marc-Andre Fleury saved 27 shots for the Penguins.
The Washington Capitals clinched their third straight win with a 3-2 shootout success over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
The Capitals had led 2-0 with goals from Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin - only for Arron Asham and Derek Stepan to level matters.
Backstrom and Ovechkin were on target again in the shootout, where Braden Holtby added to his 30 regulation saves by stopping three of Rangers' four efforts.
Sacked
First-period goals from Dan Cleary and Drew Miller spurred Detroit Red Wings to a 2-1 victory over Anaheim, condemning the Ducks to back-to-back regulation losses for the first time this season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning, who sacked coach Guy Boucher earlier on Sunday, went down 3-2 against Winnipeg. Bryan Little opened the scoring for the Jets and then provided assists for Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom to give the hosts a 3-1 lead in the second period.
Vancouver claimed sole possession of top spot in the Northwest Division with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Jason Garrison, Mason Raymond and Alexandre Burrows grabbed the goals for the Canucks, while Cory Schneider made 26 saves.
Jarome Iginla netted the winner in the third period and Miikka Kiprusoff turned away 36 shots in Calgary's 3-2 triumph over the St Louis Blues - the result snapping a three-game losing run for the Flames.
Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves for his third shutout of the season to help the New York Islanders to a 3-0 victory over the Florida Panthers. Andrew MacDonald, John Tavares and Casey Cizikas scored the goals.
