David Ferrer booked his place in the final of the ATP Sony Open with a hard-fought 4-6 6-2 6-3 victory over Tommy Haas in Miami.

German Haas had beaten world No 1 Novak Djokovic in the fourth round and the 15th seed looked on course to add the scalp of third-seed Ferrer when he claimed the opening set after breaking serve in the fifth and seventh games.

However the Spaniard battled back to level the match with some formidable serving in the second set.

Ferrer did not concede a single break point - winning 91 per cent of points on his first serve - and took his opportunities when returning, breaking the world No 18 in the sixth game and then again in the eighth.

There were three breaks of serve at the start of the deciding set, with Haas taking a 2-1 lead before holding his serve comfortably.

But world No 5 Ferrer stormed back to take the next four games before sealing victory after two hours and two minutes on his first match point.

Ferrer will now play Britain's Andy Murray, the second seed, in Sunday's final.
