Matt Slauson, Chicago Bears strike one-year contract
The Chicago Bears lost their best guard, Lance Louis, to the Miami Dolphins this week, so they've found a replacement. The team announced a one-year contract agreement with former New York Jets guard Matt Slauson on Friday.
If you were taking bets before free agency, you never would have guessed that Slauson, not Brandon Moore, would be the first Jets guard to find a team in free agency. Although if you were taking bets on which Jets guard was going to sign first, you should consult a professional.
(I might soon have a serious problem, too. People using the word "bet" on NFL.com before have been known to be struck by lightning.)
This makes six Jets starters to leave the team this offseason, and two offensive linemen signed to the Bears who will be expected to start Week 1. The Bears paid big money to tackle Jermon Bushrod; Slauson should have come for cheap.
