Domenik Hixon, Panthers reportedly strike contract Empty Domenik Hixon, Panthers reportedly strike contract

Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman continues to import players from his former team.
The Panthers agreed to terms on a one-year contract with former New York Giants wide receiver Domenik Hixon, CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported Wednesday.

The move comes one week after the Panthers signed linebacker Chase Blackburn, another former Giant.

The Cleveland Browns also were "very interested" in his services, according to La Canfora. Hixon reportedly turned down an offer from the Detroit Lions at the start of free agency.

Hixon, 28, played in 13 games last season, finishing with 39 catches for 567 yards and two touchdowns. Hixon and Ted Ginn are in competition for Carolina's third-receiver spot behind Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell.

Hixon essentially trades places with Louis Murphy, who signed with the Giants earlier in free agency.
