The Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers will meet in the Eastern Conference play-off semi-finals after winning their game seven deciders.

Patrice Bergeron netted the winning goal in overtime as Boston rallied to overcome the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4.

The Maple Leafs, competing in the post-season for the first time since 2004, led 4-1 in the third period thanks to goals from Cody Franson (2), Phil Kessel and Nazem Kadri.

But Boston hit back with strikes from Bergeron, Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic adding to Matt Bartkowski's first-period opener to force the extra period.

The Rangers enjoyed a much smoother passage, toppling the Washington Capitals 5-0 for the first game-seven road victory in the team's history.

Henrik Lundqvist turned away 35 shots for his second straight shutout, while Arron Asham, Taylor Pyatt, Michael Del Zotto, Ryan Callahan and Mats Zuccarello were on target.
